Copying has a bad reputation. The notion surrounding this act is derogatory, suggesting lack of originality, few individual ideas, and thus, a lack of personality. And it's surprising because, in reality, as social beings, from birth to death, we always copy. We mimic how others speak, move, express themselves, dress, what opinions they hold... In reality, copying is quite natural. We all copy each other, and thanks to this fact, we connect, learn, and teach, thus allowing society to evolve.
"To copy" is a performance that brings to the stage a group of children aged 8 to 10. This group has not had any rehearsals or preparations before going on stage. Together with Animal Religion, they navigate through a playful, emotional, and eclectic performance where the only guide is copying. From a copy, an original also emerges.
A co-production of laSala and Mercat de les Flors.
